Musings - Off with their heads...

Not a lot of people know this but in Halifax we used to chop peoples heads off, only the bad ones of course.

Here is the Gibbet...


It is out of action now but you can image the horrors that went on at this site. But those facing the chop did have a saving grace... About half a mile away is this pub, The Running Man.


If people could escape and reach this pub then they earned their freedom, or so the legend goes.
